Hi Leon
I am enjoying reading your blog. Great trip. Congratulations. I am envious.
I have a few questions:
1. What year did you start and end this trip? I see “2014” at bottom but you talk about “2003” in the introduction. Things change, so it is useful to know the rough date of the trip
2. I am planning to cycle from Mexico City to Puebla this month, and from there south through CAm. Can cyclists use the “Cuota” (toll road) 190D all the way from Mexico City to Puebla? I was able to cycle on Cuotas from Tijuana to Michoacán this spring. I liked their safe shoulders, although the traffic was noisy at times.
3. Elsewhere in Mexico, could cyclists use the Cuotas?
Thanks

2. I am planning to cycle from Mexico City to Puebla this month. Can cyclists use the “Cuato” (toll road) all the way from Mexico City to Puebla? I was able to cycle on Cuotas from San Diego to Michoacan this spring. I liked their safe shoulders, although the traffic was noisy at times.
Hi Tim
Glad you’re enjoying the blog! Yeah the bike tour was ten years ago, starting in 2004 so wouldn’t rely on much of the information in there still being up to date. Not entirely sure about the cuata toll road but I know I did get directed off it in 2005 and told to take the non-toll road when I rode from Mexico City to Puebla.
Hope your ride is fun, take care and hope it’s not too hot!
Cheers
Leon
Generally I’ve found any toll roads to be fast traffic so they don’t let slower vehicles take them!
